Alternanthera reineckii

General information: Used as a tall red and copper coloured background plant

Cultivation notes : Likes plenty of light, grows at Aquagreen in a substrate of 1 part peat, 1 part shell grit, 4 parts laterite and 4 parts sand. The water temp is about 27 deg C most of the year with a warmer period when growth is not as good. Kasselmann recommend 17 to 25 deg C for cultivation. The hardness is 70 ppm and carbonate hardness 80 ppm with carbon dioxide dissolved into the water sufficient to keep the pH about neutral. Kasselmann recommend acidic conditions for best growth.
